Sutton Trust Summer Schools Programme These are subject-specific Summer Schools are held at 12 leading universities. Over 40 different subjects on offer from Anthropology to Zoology.Experience university life, explore academic study and receive support with your UCAS application at our Summer Schools. Meet like-minded students from across the UK and engage with current undergraduates. Attend taster lectures and workshops delivered by academics and build your knowledge in a subject area you’re interested in exploring at university. Please see Mr Ryman or Dr Bradley for more details. 07.11.16 Year 12 Cambridge Opportunities For year 12 students who are interested in pursuing Law, Cambridge University are offering the following: The Cambridge University Sixth Form Law Conference is a residential course for students who are interested in studying Law and is organised and hosted by current Law Undergraduate students. They organise a variety of tater lectures and attempt to provide participants with an understanding of what studying Law at Cambridge might look like and also a chance to experience aspects of student life at Cambridge. Participants stay in undergraduate accommodation and meals and accommodation are provided. Applications for spaces on the 2017 conference are currently open and further information, including a sample timetable, can be found at www.cambridgesixthformlawconference.com. Spaces on the 2017 courses cost £140 but there are up to 30 fully funded places available for those in need of financial assistance. Please note that this is not an event organised by Pembroke College. 30.11.15 Opportunities for potential Cambridge applicants Spaces are currently available on the Engineering and the Asian and Middle Eastern Studies events and students can register their interest online so will be informed when future bookings open. Cambridge College Physics Experience (CCPE) We host a series of days as part of CCPE for Year 9, Year 11 and Year 12 students throughout the academic year. Students spend the morning learning about the Cambridge and Pembroke and then spend the afternoon in the Cavendish Laboratory with colleagues from the Department of Physics. Details about the February and March dates will be sent out to schools in due course. 24.02.15 Year 13 trip to Leicester Crown Court As part of the Sociology A2 course, we will be visiting the Crown Court in Leicester. The day will include a short presentation in relation to the court layout and etiquette. This will be followed at approximately 9.30am with a question and answer session with one of our Circuit Judges which usually concludes within about 20 minutes or so. The court sittings start between 10.00am and 10.30am and you will be allowed to observe any proceedings that are being held in Open Court This trip is also open to any year 13 student who is looking at studying Law or related degree at university. 09.02.15 Pembroke College Open Days Booking is now open for the Pembroke College Open Days for students interested in making an application to the University of Cambridge. The dates for 2015 are Thursday 9th April: Art subjects Friday 10th April: Science subjects Saturday 2nd May: Maths (in conjunction with the Maths Faculty Open Day) Saturday 2nd May: Music Wednesday 1st July: Law only Thursday 2nd July: Art subjects Friday 3rd July: Science Subjects Saturday 26th September: Open Afternoon for all subjects. For more information please take an information card from the challenge display in Humanities . 14.03.15 Reaching for an A* 07.02.15 Beauchamp College High Achievers' Day Tuesday 17th March We are holding our annual High Achievers' evening on Tuesday 17th March from 5.30-7.30pm. As in previous years, the event will include a range of mock Oxbridge and medicine interviews, a talk from Dr. Andrew Bell, a Cambridge admissions tutor and a question and answer session from a panel of students and university staff.
